Dental Extractions in Baulkham Hills, NSW

What Is a Tooth Extraction?

If a tooth is damaged by decay, fractured due to a crack, knocked out by trauma, or un-restorable due to gum disease, the tooth needs to be extracted. In other words, removing the troubled tooth will improve your oral health.

This is a big decision, and Dr Martina Lavery will explore all available treatment with you. If extraction is the only option, it does not have to be the end of a beautiful smile. We offer a number of natural-looking tooth-replacements.

We may recommend extraction in other cases as well. For instance, sometimes ‘baby teeth’ do not fall out and need to be extracted or people getting braces may need extractions to create space for the teeth to be moved into the new spaces.

Additionally, wisdom teeth are sometimes extracted due to pain, decay and infection, as they are difficult to clean.

Why Do I Need a Tooth Extraction?

Dr Lavery routinely does all her extractions conservatively in the dental chair with local anaesthetic using a cutting-edge American-patented, conservative technique.

This means that the extraction is rapid and less traumatic to the surrounding tissue. Non-traumatic dental extractions result in quicker wound healing and less pain, and they conserve the bone structure, which is especially crucial if a dental implant is to be placed at the extraction site. Implants need bone to integrate, so the more bone that is left behind after an extraction, the better.

What Is the Cost of Tooth Extraction?

The cost depends on the difficulty of the extraction, and Dr Lavery will advise of the cost prior to treatment.

Dr Lavery also offers ground-breaking, gold-standard grafting procedures immediately after your extraction to optimise the bone quantity and quality of your wound.

A blood sample (usually taken from your arm) is prepared in the latest generation medical centrifuge (medifuge) which extracts the concentrated growth factors and stem cells which, when placed back into the wound at the time of extraction, differentiate into the bone cells.

This is cutting-edge science and Dr Lavery truly is a self-confessed ‘science nerd’, bringing you all the latest medical technology advances.

Your Body Is Amazing – Happy Healing

Patients typically recover fully with few complications. For patients who require multiple extractions or are feeling anxious, we offer many different options to alleviate dental anxiety.

We also carry out extractions under sedation with a registered anaesthetist.

Rarely does a patient request to be admitted to hospital to have their extractions carried out under a general anaesthetic; however, we can arrange the appropriate referral when necessary.
